Benê de Azevedo started the match with the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Jerônimo Cardoso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Centro de Formação 101A's supporters rose to their feet, but Jerônimo Cardoso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donato Mazza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Itacaja SS's Donato Mazza got control of the ball when Benê de Azevedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Delfim Pinheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Baptista having to interfere. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Centro de Formação 101A's goalkeeper Leopoldo Baptista, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Reinaldo Pitta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Baptista having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Delfim Pinheiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Centro de Formação 101A's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benê de Azevedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Centro de Formação 101A's Perivaldo de Lara got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sandro Aparecido's late challenge caught a Centro de Formação 101A's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sandro Aparecido helped the player get up and apologised. Centro de Formação 101A's Benê de Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Itacaja SS getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Sandro Aparecido hit a great ball. In the 36th minute Jerônimo Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donato Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 40 played minutes Itacaja SS got a freekick which was hit by Gláuber Romero. Centro de Formação 101A's Jerônimo Cardoso got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Itacaja SS fans' excitement grew in the 47th match minute when Itacaja SS's Raúl Moreno looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Reinaldo Pitta made a kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Delfim Pinheiro got free with Leopoldo Baptista in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Ronaldão Cosme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Donato Mazza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jerônimo Cardoso in the 56th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reinaldo Pitta in the 58th minute of play forced Centro de Formação 101A's goalkeeper Leopoldo Baptista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Tomás Linares fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itacaja SS's protests and gave Tomás Linares a yellow card for diving instead. In the 63rd minute, one of Itacaja SS:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Itacaja SS. In the 65th minute there was a penalty for Centro de Formação 101A. Gilvan Guerra stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Donato Mazza. 1-1. Delfim Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leopoldo Baptista showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reinaldo Pitta in the 72nd minute of the match. After 73 minutes of play, Centro de Formação 101A's Benê de Azevedo made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Donato Mazza was left in no man's land by his defense there! 77 minutes into the game, Paulão Lopez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Centro de Formação 101A's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itacaja SS the free kick. Delfim Pinheiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Leopoldo Baptista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Delfim Pinheiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Leopoldo Baptista made a huge save. If Reinaldo Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sandro Aparecido got his second yellow card in the match during the 96th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Centro de Formação 101A booed when Itacaja SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandro Aparecido didn't get a good kick on the ball. Itacaja SS's Donato Mazza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerônimo Cardoso in the 98th minute of play. The Centro de Formação 101A players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
