In the 30th minute, Agnaldo Lara fired a really elegant long shot, but Arí Simões threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. A collision led to Marmelada SC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Leandro de Lara hit a great ball. When Anísio Silveira fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marmelada SC's protests and gave Anísio Silveira a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Sunderland A.F.C booed when Marmelada SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anísio Silveira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sunderland A.F.C's Abelardo Toscano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Sunderland A.F.C from getting a goal against them. The nice shot from Tarcisio Hoffmann in the 92ndth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Abelardo Toscano had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
