In the 10th minute, Ricardo Penha sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Juiz de Fora Team's Juninho Maranhense didn't even have to move. If Evaristo de Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcelinho Motta was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luís Gustavo Lara showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raimundo de Andrade in the 21st minute of play forced Juiz de Fora Team's goalkeeper Juninho Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juiz de Fora Team's Juninho Maranhense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabiano Mineiro in the 22nd minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Guaxupe's goalkeeper Marcelinho Motta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Gustavo Lara. With a little luck, Guaxupe's Marcelinho Motta got control of the ball when Evaristo de Alcântara tried to sneak it across the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Juiz de Fora Team's goal looked a bit too open when Raimundo de Andrade came free, but Juninho Maranhense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Gustavo Lara got free with Marcelinho Motta in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Evaristo de Alcântara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Marcelinho Motta made a huge save. Thanks to some nice moves Evaristo de Alcântara could shoot a difficult shot in the 39th minute, which Marcelinho Motta however easily saved by the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Raimundo de Andrade in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juninho Maranhense prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Marcelinho Motta was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Luiz Guilherme Baptista. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 54th minute there was a penalty for Juiz de Fora Team. Luiz Penha stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Marcelinho Motta. 2-0. Marcelinho Motta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Evaristo de Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 62 minutes into the game, Raimundo de Andrade cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Juninho Maranhense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabiano Mineiro in the 66th minute of play forced Juiz de Fora Team's goalkeeper Juninho Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Fabiano Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juninho Maranhense was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Fabiano Mineiro showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 75 minute of play. Juiz de Fora Team's Juninho Maranhense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Juiz de Fora Team from getting a goal against them. Juninho Maranhense yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-3. The crowd rose to their feet as Guaxupe's Fabiano Mineiro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Juninho Maranhense. That made the score 2-4 after 86 minutes of play. Juiz de Fora Team's Juninho Maranhense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Juiz de Fora Team from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabiano Mineiro in the 91st minute of play forced Juiz de Fora Team's goalkeeper Juninho Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Raimundo de Andrade fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juninho Maranhense having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Fabiano Mineiro took a quick shot and it went in 2-5 without a chance for Juninho Maranhense to make any attempt to save it. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Guaxupe eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
