After a rather tough play, Mangalatiba's Frederico Santana got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Mangalatiba's Tomás Pereira proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Mangalatiba from getting a goal against them. After having played for 67 minutes, Tião Domingues managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mangalatiba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tião Domingues was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Juninho Maranhense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilvan Ceresso in the 69th minute of play. Juninho Maranhense came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Mangalatiba's Gilvan Ceresso. But to his dismay, Gilvan Ceresso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Gilvan Ceresso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Juiz de Fora Team's Evaristo de Alcântara got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
