David Xavier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elivélton Falcão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 7 minutes into the game, Tostão Guedes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Salimen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Duere the free kick. After 7 played minutes Salimen got a freekick which was hit by Tostão Guedes. 0-1 became the score in the 9th minute when Cássio Coelho elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Abel da Fonseca had several of the Duere's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 13 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-1 score and a disappointed Paulo Renato Saraiva as he didn't even see the shot coming. Juninho Pimenta might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo Renato Saraiva. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Juninho Pimenta ran back to his position shaking his head. When Vitinho Cordeiro fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Duere's protests and gave Vitinho Cordeiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd minute, Vitinho Cordeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Juninho Pimenta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 24 minutes, Cacá de Queiroz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Duere and the Salimen players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Salimen booed when Duere was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cacá de Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Renato Saraiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juninho Pimenta in the 27th minute of the match. If Elivélton Falcão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 32 minutes into the match, Cássio Coelho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of David Xavier. Salimen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cássio Coelho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. During the 34th minute of the match Cacá de Queiroz completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Cacá de Queiroz a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After a rather tough play, Duere's Cacá de Queiroz got a free kick in the 35th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Salimen's zone, Elivélton Falcão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. David Xavier came out of the goal and Elivélton Falcão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

David Xavier came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Duere's Elivélton Falcão. But to his dismay, Elivélton Falcão quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3.
