In the 75th minute of the match Haroldo Melo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Simão Zonta skillfully saved the ball. Andrézinho Ferreira kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. José Carlos Pirani's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Simão Zonta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Zézinho Prado might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bæringur Kristbjörnsson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Zézinho Prado ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Osvaldo Meirelles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bæringur Kristbjörnsson was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game.
