The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 21st minute Aníbal Paulista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldemar Palmeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Miranga AD getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. João Paulo Paraibano hit a great ball. Abelardo Lima charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Abelardo Lima the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 27th match minute, Miranga AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abelardo Lima to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 33 minutes, Eugênio Veloso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zong S.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eugênio Veloso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Danilo Pombal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aníbal Paulista in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Waldemar Palmeira saved Miranga AD from getting behind. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aníbal Paulista to make the kick off. Luciano Cardozo kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Waldemar Palmeira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aníbal Paulista in the 57th minute of the match. Eusébio Guimarães kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 73rd minute, Aníbal Paulista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zong S.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Aníbal Paulista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldemar Palmeira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 78th minute, Abelardo Lima fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Waldemar Souza, passed just outside the right post. 80 minutes into the match, Miranga AD's goal looked a bit too open when Aníbal Paulista came free, but Waldemar Palmeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lauro de Castro in the 82nd minute of play forced Miranga AD's goalkeeper Waldemar Palmeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Waldemar Palmeira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lauro de Castro, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Waldemar Souza made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Fernando Argoitz sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Lauro de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zong S.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Lauro de Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldemar Palmeira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Zong S.C fans cheered their team off the field, for while Miranga AD had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
