After 2 played minutes Galatassarrafo F. C got a freekick which was hit by Mazinho Pernambucano. An unexpectedly hard shot by Egídio Abreu in the 6th minute of play forced Zong S.C's goalkeeper Waldemar Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jailson Damião kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. After having played for 9 minutes, Aníbal Paulista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Zong S.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aníbal Paulista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Eusébio Aguiar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galatassarrafo F. C's supporters rose to their feet, but Eusébio Aguiar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldemar Souza breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Eusébio Aguiar came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Galatassarrafo F. C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eusébio Aguiar couldn't finish the play. 19 minutes into the match, Zong S.C's goal looked a bit too open when Eusébio Aguiar came free, but Waldemar Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Galatassarrafo F. C booed when Zong S.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elói da Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Galatassarrafo F. C's Gilson Lucas tried to score from far away in the 23rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Aníbal Paulista kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nilmar do Vale. That made the score 1-0 in the 25 minute of play. Lauro de Castro kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. If Egídio Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th minute Eusébio Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldemar Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Egídio Abreu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Egídio Abreu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldemar Souza having to interfere. Galatassarrafo F. C's Nilmar do Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lauro de Castro in the 57th minute of play. If Eusébio Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Eusébio Aguiar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Galatassarrafo F. Eugênio Veloso charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eugênio Veloso the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 84th minute, Eugênio Veloso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Eusébio Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eusébio Aguiar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Waldemar Souza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
