In the 4thth minute of the game Vivaldo Perez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but PICA-PAU AMORA FC's Gilson Silva was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 4 played minutes PICA-PAU AMORA FC got a freekick which was hit by Giuseppe Mineiro. 7 minutes into the game, VILA NOVA F.C.'s Lenílson Pires nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gilson Silva made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Valdir Xavier charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valdir Xavier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to VILA NOVA F.C. getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Valdir Xavier hit a great ball. In the 13th play minute Oswaldo Veiga came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Olavo de Andrade. 1-1. Oswaldo Veiga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Olavo de Andrade read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. In the 23rd minute, Vivaldo Perez made a precise shot to the right of Gilson Silva. PICA-PAU AMORA FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. Gilson Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vivaldo Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. After 30 played minutes PICA-PAU AMORA FC got a freekick which was hit by Giuseppe Mineiro. Olavo de Andrade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geraldo Mello, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Oswaldo Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 60th minute, Duda Fontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 67 minutes into the match, VILA NOVA F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Geraldo Mello came free, but Olavo de Andrade reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 71 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Oswaldo Veiga sped through VILA NOVA F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Olavo de Andrade. After a defensive mix-up in PICA-PAU AMORA FC's zone, Vivaldo Perez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gilson Silva came out of the goal and Vivaldo Perez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 81stth minute of the game Oswaldo Veiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VILA NOVA F.C.'s Olavo de Andrade was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Geraldo Mello in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olavo de Andrade saved VILA NOVA F.C. from getting behind. If Geraldo Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The PICA-PAU AMORA FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while VILA NOVA F.C. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
