An unexpectedly hard shot by Duarte Lago in the 25th minute of play forced Mangaratu AD's goalkeeper Reynaldo de Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, Duarte Lago got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Reynaldo de Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emílio da Costa in the 64th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 65 minutes, Emílio da Costa put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Reynaldo de Azevedo. After 68 minutes, Luiz Eduardo Silva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sabiuca and the Mangaratu AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Mangaratu AD booed when Sabiuca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Eduardo Silva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matheus da Silveira, 69 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal.
