The Vila da Penha EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A collision led to Vila da Penha EC getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Bebeto Souza hit a great ball. Bebeto Souza tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Sílvio Luís Souto. An unnecessary self made goal, 1-1 in the 18th minute. In the 23rd minute Ramiro Ribeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Luís Souto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sílvio Luís Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramiro Ribeiro in the 24th minute of play. Nilmar Cabral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Sílvio Luís Souto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ramiro Ribeiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 31 minutes into the game, Bebeto Souza was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vila da Penha EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Associação Chapecoense the free kick. Bebeto Souza hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. If Ramiro Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emerson Nunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diamantino Zonta having to interfere. Aílton Fantini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Diamantino Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Vila da Penha EC's Sílvio Luís Souto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vinícius Corrêa in the 52nd minute of play. In the 57th minute Nilmar Cabral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Luís Souto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vila da Penha EC's Hortêncio Vides got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Aílton Fantini succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 64th playminute. Ricardinho Santos hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the game, Vila da Penha EC's Aílton Fantini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Diamantino Zonta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Associação Chapecoense's Joel Macedo got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Nilmar Cabral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Associação Chapecoense's supporters rose to their feet, but Nilmar Cabral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sílvio Luís Souto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ramiro Ribeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sílvio Luís Souto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. Sílvio Luís Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramiro Ribeiro in the 90th minute of play. Ramiro Ribeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Luís Souto having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Nilmar Cabral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Associação Chapecoense's supporters rose to their feet, but Nilmar Cabral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Vila da Penha EC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
