Lenílson Negri didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for TOT UNITD. Zézinho Rodrigues recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Abelardo França's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lenílson Negri was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. The supporters of Leões Potiguares booed when TOT UNITD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wágner Tasso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abelardo França recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lenílson Negri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiaguinho Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Tiaguinho Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenílson Negri having to interfere. Lenílson Negri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiaguinho Neves in the 46th minute of the match. Lenílson Negri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abelardo França, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 56th minute, Abelardo França ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lenílson Negri was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Abelardo França could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Lenílson Negri made a huge save. In the 64th match minute, TOT UNITD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wágner Tasso to maneuver through the defense. Germano Castro charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Germano Castro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 65 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Leões Potiguares! The goalkeeper, Lenílson Negri, was totally fooled by TOT UNITD's Almir Moraes, who 67 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 71stth minute of the game Tiaguinho Neves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Leões Potiguares's Lenílson Negri was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 74 minutes into the game, Zézinho Rodrigues was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. TOT UNITD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Leões Potiguares the free kick. In the 74th match minute, TOT UNITD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zézinho Rodrigues to maneuver through the defense. After 97 played minutes Leões Potiguares got a freekick which was hit by Gugu de Carvalho. TOT UNITD's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
