Mangarataia's Olavo Garcia got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 9thth minute of the game Vladimir Castro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mangarataia's Célio Queiroz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 10th minute, Luís Fernando Figueiredo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Veneza SC's zone, Miguel Severo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luisinho de Brito came out of the goal and Miguel Severo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute, Jean Luz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 14th minute of the match Anísio Neto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Célio Queiroz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Luisinho de Brito was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Vladimir Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Veneza SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Vladimir Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Célio Queiroz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vladimir Castro scored 1-1 in the 31st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Célio Queiroz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Olavo Garcia came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Mangarataia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olavo Garcia couldn't finish the play. 38 minutes into the game, Luís Fernando Figueiredo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Célio Queiroz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Veneza SC's Anísio Neto got a free kick in the 42nd minute. 44 minutes into the match, Mangarataia's Josué de Queirós sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luisinho de Brito narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Miguel Severo was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vladimir Castro in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Célio Queiroz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Célio Queiroz made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Luís Fernando Figueiredo sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Mangarataia getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Caco Mendes hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Severo in the 62nd minute of play forced Veneza SC's goalkeeper Luisinho de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Veneza SC's Célio Queiroz threw himself towards the right post 71 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Vladimir Castro, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 73rd minute of the match Veneza SC got a corner. Mangarataia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Anísio Neto ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 78th minute Luís Fernando Figueiredo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Célio Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luís Fernando Figueiredo might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Célio Queiroz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luís Fernando Figueiredo ran back to his position shaking his head. Luís Fernando Figueiredo succeeded in the game's 81st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-4. 85 minutes into the match, Luís Fernando Figueiredo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Célio Queiroz. Mangarataia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Fernando Figueiredo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. Célio Queiroz was a little too slow when Vladimir Castro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 89th minute. The score was now 1-6. Vladimir Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vladimir Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Célio Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Veneza SC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
