Pedrinho Pinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabiano Marques in the 5th minute of the match. Humberto Corrêa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 17th minute, Fabiano Marques got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Murillo Rezende fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Placa's protests and gave Murillo Rezende a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Jacuipense booed when Placa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murillo Rezende didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Jacuipense's goalkeeper Humberto Corrêa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Fernando Arantes. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Jerônimo Pena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Placa's supporters rose to their feet, but Jerônimo Pena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Humberto Corrêa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jacuipense's Humberto Corrêa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Jacuipense from getting a goal against them. In the 31st minute Dadá Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Humberto Corrêa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacuipense's Humberto Corrêa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dadá Paraense in the 37th minute of play. Humberto Corrêa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luís Fernando Arantes went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Betão Tande's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pedrinho Pinho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. A collision led to Placa getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Eusébio Severo hit a great ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. David Sarmento was the one to do the kick off. After 55 minutes of play, Placa's Luís Fernando Arantes made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Humberto Corrêa was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 58 minutes, Betão Tande mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jacuipense and the Placa players grew even worse after the yellow card. Betão Tande kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Jacuipense's goal looked a bit too open when Dadá Paraense came free, but Humberto Corrêa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61st match minute, Jacuipense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moisés Cerezo to maneuver through the defense. Luís Fernando Arantes struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Humberto Corrêa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Placa. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jacuipense's goalkeeper Humberto Corrêa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 65th minute Dadá Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Humberto Corrêa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 68 minutes into the game, Placa's Dadá Paraense nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Humberto Corrêa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. After some careless play in the Jacuipense defense, Severino Mendes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Humberto Corrêa. The Jacuipense fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Humberto Corrêa should have stopped the shot. After 79 played minutes Placa got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fernando Arantes. Humberto Corrêa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severino Mendes, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ediberto Messias during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 88th minute, Ediberto Messias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Humberto Corrêa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dadá Paraense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 93 minutes into the match, Jacuipense's goal looked a bit too open when Dadá Paraense came free, but Humberto Corrêa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 95th minute Luís Fernando Arantes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Humberto Corrêa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Jacuipense players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Placa.
