With a little luck, Gozado's Donato Recife got control of the ball when Fabrício Peixoto tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 12th minute, Fabrício Peixoto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Gremio PortoAlegrense JA booed when Gozado was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franklin Berger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cacá Albuquerque showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Madureira, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Gozado's Donato Recife proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Gozado from getting a goal against them. In the 27th minute, Fabrício Peixoto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gremio PortoAlegrense JA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Jardel Montenegro's late challenge caught a Gozado's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jardel Montenegro helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Gozado booed when Gremio PortoAlegrense JA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jardel Montenegro didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Enio Zonta in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cacá Albuquerque saved Gremio PortoAlegrense JA from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as Jardel Montenegro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Donato Recife. That made the score 3-0 in the 43 minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rui Madureira to strike the kick off in the second half. Gremio PortoAlegrense JA's Cacá Albuquerque proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Gremio PortoAlegrense JA from getting a goal against them. If Jardel Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabrício Peixoto struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Donato Recife didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gremio PortoAlegrense JA. Jardel Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Donato Recife tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Enio Zonta ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cacá Albuquerque was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. When the match clock showed 74 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Enio Zonta sped through Gremio PortoAlegrense JA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Cacá Albuquerque. After 76 minutes, Yan Peixoto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gozado and the Gremio PortoAlegrense JA players grew even worse after the yellow card. Yan Peixoto hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Gozado's zone, Jardel Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Donato Recife came out of the goal and Jardel Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 80 minutes, Fabrício Peixoto made it 4-2 with a short kick to the right side. Gozado's Donato Recife tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 83 minutes into the game, Fabrício Peixoto cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-2. Donato Recife was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rui Madureira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute Jardel Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donato Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gremio PortoAlegrense JA's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
