Dênis Neto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to C.F. Minas Gerais getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Válbson Velloso hit a great ball. Arnaldo Passos hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Aleandro Faustino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 20 minutes into the match, C.F. Minas Gerais's goal looked a bit too open when Caco Senna came free, but Iuri de Brito reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aleandro Faustino struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Iuri de Brito didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Marítimo. Caco Sennas short, quick shot in the 26thth minute got Iuri de Brito to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 27 minutes into the match, C.F. Minas Gerais's goalkeeper Iuri de Brito had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aleandro Faustino. Caco Senna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iuri de Brito having to interfere. Tiaguinho de Brito's late challenge caught a FC Marítimo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tiaguinho de Brito helped the player get up and apologised. When Caco Senna came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the FC Marítimo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Caco Senna couldn't finish the play. In the 36th minute, Acácio Almeida left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C.F. Minas Gerais fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Aleandro Faustino got free with Iuri de Brito in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Caco Senna in the 48th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Iuri de Brito prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Caco Senna stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Iuri de Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnaldo Passos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 55thth minute of the game Caco Senna who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C.F. Minas Gerais's Iuri de Brito was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dênis Neto was a little too slow when Acácio Almeida got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 0-3. Arnaldo Passos scored 1-3 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iuri de Brito, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Caco Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Ernesto Carioca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnaldo Passos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iuri de Brito having to interfere. Aleandro Faustino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iuri de Brito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Iuri de Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnaldo Passos in the 83rd minute of the match. Denílson Ribeiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Caco Senna's late challenge caught a C.F. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Arnaldo Passos managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Marítimo's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnaldo Passos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iuri de Brito breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 94 played minutes C.F. Minas Gerais got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldinho Machado. Chants of C.F. Minas Gerais echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as FC Marítimo had held the ball for most of the match.
