The Santos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Durval Britto should have stopped the shot. 36 minutes into the match, Pedro Augusto Marques had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Durval Britto. Santos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pedro Augusto Marques was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Durval Britto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lúcio Fantini in the 41st minute of the match. Durval Britto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pedro Augusto Marques went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. The supporters of Cupia booed when Santos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Donatello didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedro Augusto Marques stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
