But to his dismay, João Paulo Sampaio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After having played for 22 minutes, João Paulo Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Corinthians SV's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Paulo Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Décio Vinhas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jeferson Gaúcho was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. After 25 minutes Cabo Frio's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Décio Vinhas who took care of the corner kick. Décio Vinhas scored 0-3 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jeferson Gaúcho, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cabo Frio's Jeferson Gaúcho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Paulo Rocha in the 33rd minute of play. In the 35thth minute of the game Décio Vinhas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cabo Frio's Jeferson Gaúcho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Décio Vinhas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jeferson Gaúcho. Cabo Frio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Décio Vinhas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. Cabo Frio's Jeferson Gaúcho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Décio Vinhas in the 42nd minute of play. Jeferson Gaúcho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Décio Vinhas, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Corinthians SV's goalkeeper César Neves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 47 minutes had been played when some careless play by Corinthians SV's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fernandinho Leme was slow to take the kick. During this time Cabo Frio's players had a chance to rest. Fernandinho Leme made a great header on Cabo Frio's corner, it was just that Corinthians SV's César Neves managed to reach the ball for a save.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Russ Bull stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Corinthians SV booed when Cabo Frio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frédson Leite didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeferson Gaúcho was a little too slow when João Paulo Sampaio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 83rd minute. The score was now 0-6. In the 88th match minute, Cabo Frio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Luís Alvarenga to maneuver through the defense. Corinthians SV's Acácio Lima was substituted for Wanderson Braga. In the 89th minute, Sílvio Luís Alvarenga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Cabo Frio supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Corinthians SV's performance. The match ended with a win for Corinthians SV.
