After a defensive mix-up in Suva's zone, Russ Bull stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Percy de Andrade came out of the goal and Russ Bull tried to chip the ball over his head. When Benê Nascimento fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Suva's protests and gave Benê Nascimento a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Suva's Benê Nascimento got a free kick in the 17th minute. Percy de Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evaristo Félix in the 20th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Russ Bull in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Percy de Andrade saved Suva from getting behind. A collision led to Suva getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Emerson Capixaba hit a great ball. After 23 played minutes, Cabo Frio's Fernandinho Leme shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Percy de Andrade came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cabo Frio reached it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ramiro Jacinto during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Frédson Leite fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Percy de Andrade having to interfere. Jeferson Gaúcho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicolas Cabral in the 28th minute. In the 31st minute, Evaristo Félix ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Percy de Andrade was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Russ Bull recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nicolas Cabral to strike the kick off in the second half. With his leg Percy de Andrade managed to avoid a goal in the 57thth minute, when Cabo Frio's Russ Bull fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 58 minutes into the match, Suva's goalkeeper Percy de Andrade had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Russ Bull. The supporters of Suva booed when Cabo Frio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maurício Terra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nicolas Cabral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Suva's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicolas Cabral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Percy de Andrade took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Russ Bull, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nicolas Cabral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jeferson Gaúcho having to interfere. 87 minutes into the game, Nicolas Cabral was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player.
