In the 9th minute Paulão Maranhense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amílton Dantas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Amílton Dantas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilson de Lima's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. If Luiz Gustavo Dante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, Francisco Soeiro notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Caririmirim AD's Paulo Félix. Paulo Félix was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 24th minute, Jefferson Amaral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gino Pombal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Félix having to interfere. Paulo Félix didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Osvaldinho de Toledo went, in the 27th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Paulo Félix was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Osvaldinho de Toledo showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 31 minute of play. 33 minutes into the match, Osvaldinho de Toledo dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Paulo Félix, 4-0. The supporters of Caririmirim AD booed when Grêmio Meia Praia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. João Carlos Aguiar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paulo Félix made an important save on a dangerous shot by Osvaldinho de Toledo in the 40th minute. After 43 played minutes Caririmirim AD got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Alberto Negri. The crowd rose to their feet as Grêmio Meia Praia's Gino Pombal slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Paulo Félix. That made the score 5-0 after 44 minutes of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 5-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Paulão Maranhense made a kick off. Paulão Maranhense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amílton Dantas having to interfere. 54 minutes into the game, Francisco Soeiro cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Paulo Félix was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Paulo Félix showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldinho de Toledo in the 58th minute of the match. In the 59th match minute, Caririmirim AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Válter Montenegro to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gilson de Lima got free with Amílton Dantas in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Gilson de Lima took a quick shot and it went in 6-1 without a chance for Amílton Dantas to make any attempt to save it. 64 minutes into the match, Caririmirim AD's goal looked a bit too open when Francisco Soeiro came free, but Paulo Félix reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 66 minutes into the game, Grêmio Meia Praia's Osvaldinho de Toledo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Félix made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-1. In the 73rd minute, Luiz Gustavo Dante left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Grêmio Meia Praia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-1. When Gilson de Lima fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caririmirim AD's protests and gave Gilson de Lima a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Caririmirim AD's Gilson de Lima got a free kick in the 76th minute. In the 78th minute, Francisco Soeiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulo Félix was frozen by the shot and now it was 9-1. After a defensive mix-up in Caririmirim AD's zone, Luiz Gustavo Dante stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulo Félix came out of the goal and Luiz Gustavo Dante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Paulo Félix didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Francisco Soeiro went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 10-1 was the resulting score. 91 minutes into the game, Grêmio Meia Praia's Francisco Soeiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Paulo Félix made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 12-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldinho de Toledo in the 95th minute of play forced Caririmirim AD's goalkeeper Paulo Félix to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grêmio Meia Praia's Amílton Dantas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulão Maranhense in the 96th minute of play. In the 97th minute, Grêmio Meia Praia's Guilherme Vides seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Guilherme Vides the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Grêmio Meia Praia protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Guilherme Vides had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 99th minute, the referee gave Caririmirim AD a penalty. Evandro Domingues looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Amílton Dantas.
