Ariau's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sobral F.C. the free kick. 3 minutes into the game, one of Ariau:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Jonathan de Alcântara scored 0-2 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jailson Brito, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Natanael dos Santos might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jailson Brito. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Natanael dos Santos ran back to his position shaking his head. Through an outstanding action, after 16 minutes, Arnaldo Ceresso successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 24th minute Erik Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jailson Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If José Paulo Branco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Eduardo Araújo hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Erik Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jailson Brito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Natanael dos Santos went, in the 48th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Erik Montenegro to strike the kick off in the second half. Celso Borges received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Arnaldo Ceresso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Celso Borges came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Ariau fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Celso Borges couldn't finish the play. 61 minutes into the match, Ariau's goalkeeper Jailson Brito had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Natanael dos Santos. In the 68th match minute, Ariau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonel Neiva to maneuver through the defense. In the 69th minute, Erik Montenegro fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jailson Brito, passed just outside the right post. Jonathan de Alcântara hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Sobral F.C. were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after Ariau's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jailson Cruz took the corner. If Natanael dos Santos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sobral F.C.'s Arnaldo Ceresso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celso Borges in the 83rd minute of play. If Celso Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 89 in the game by Natanael dos Santos from a close distance when the talented Jailson Brito managed to make a qualified save. Ariau's players were relieved. Jailson Brito was out of position in the 93 minute of play, and Erik Montenegro capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Erik Montenegro really showed his touch with that goal: 0-5. Sobral F.C.'s fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
