The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. REAL IMPERIAL EC's Leopoldo Britto got a good chance for a goal in the 3rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Samuel Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristóvão Félix having to interfere. After 5 played minutes Morro Grande FC got a freekick which was hit by Hílton de Queirós. A collision led to Morro Grande FC getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Hílton de Queirós hit a great ball. The supporters of REAL IMPERIAL EC booed when Morro Grande FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fred Åkerberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Morro Grande FC's zone, Leopoldo Britto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristóvão Félix came out of the goal and Leopoldo Britto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gláuber Abraão kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After 19 minutes, Dito de Lima mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the REAL IMPERIAL EC and the Morro Grande FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Morro Grande FC booed when REAL IMPERIAL EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dito de Lima didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Morro Grande FC's goalkeeper Cristóvão Félix, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, César da Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Morro Grande FC's supporters rose to their feet, but César da Costa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Fabiano Godoi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 32 minutes into the match, César da Costa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luiz Fabiano Godoi. REAL IMPERIAL EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that César da Costa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Dráusio Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Luiz Fabiano Godoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute Carlos Eduardo das Neves suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. 39 minutes into the game, Elivélton Leal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Morro Grande FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave REAL IMPERIAL EC the free kick. After 40 played minutes Morro Grande FC got a freekick which was hit by Elivélton Leal. Samuel Rocha hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Fred Åkerberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Fabiano Godoi having to interfere. Dráusio Azevedo might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Fabiano Godoi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dráusio Azevedo ran back to his position shaking his head.

The wind increased when Samuel Rocha made the kick off in the second half. If Gláuber Abraão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 52 played minutes Dráusio Azevedo rounded REAL IMPERIAL EC's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-3. Luiz Fabiano Godoi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elivélton Leal in the 55th minute of the match. In the 56th minute, Morro Grande FC's Dráusio Azevedo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fred Åkerberg got free with Luiz Fabiano Godoi in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Morro Grande FC's Dráusio Azevedo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luiz Fabiano Godoi. That made the score 1-5 after 61 minutes of play. If Dráusio Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute, Leopoldo Britto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the match, REAL IMPERIAL EC's goalkeeper Luiz Fabiano Godoi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fred Åkerberg. If Elivélton Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Samuel Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Luiz Fabiano Godoi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Morro Grande FC. Elivélton Leal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luiz Fabiano Godoi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. Morro Grande FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
