Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Diamantino Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gildo do Nascimento's late challenge caught a Sampa FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gildo do Nascimento helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Palmeiras FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Gildo do Nascimento hit a great ball. The supporters of Sampa FC booed when Palmeiras FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erasmo Travassos didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience held their breath when Váldson Bezerra in the 24th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Paulo José Fontes's left hand side.
