Club Athletico Redemptor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilson de Salles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilvan Souto in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Danilo Vinhas saved Club Athletico Redemptor from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Club Athletico Redemptor's Luiz Fábio Magalhães got a free kick in the 20th minute. Gustavo Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Club Athletico Redemptor's zone, Gilvan Souto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danilo Vinhas came out of the goal and Gilvan Souto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wilson de Salles was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 30th minute. Club Athletico Redemptor's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. FUSÂO NORTE FC's Gustavo Meira got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Gilvan Souto made the kick off in the second half. Club Athletico Redemptor's Danilo Vinhas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Club Athletico Redemptor from getting a goal against them. After having played for 57 minutes, Gustavo Meira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gilvan Souto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Danilo Vinhas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Severino Monteiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Humberto Garcia in the 75th minute of play. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind FUSÂO NORTE FC's goalkeeper Severino Monteiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 95 minutes into the game, Sílvio Luís Ramos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Athletico Redemptor's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FUSÂO NORTE FC the free kick. In the 95th minute, Sílvio Luís Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over FUSÂO NORTE FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Club Athletico Redemptor throughout the match.
