Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Michel Marques started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 4th minute of the match Nestor Trigo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Frédson Fonseca skillfully saved the ball. Paulo José Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Frédson Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Diamentina FC's Ernesto Toledo got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ricardo Rossi got free with Oscar Vides in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 24 minutes, Ezequiel Alves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Diamentina FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ezequiel Alves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Barbacena EC's Frédson Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo José Carioca in the 25th minute of play. Ricardo Rossi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 27thth minute tested the skills of Oscar Vides when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Barbacena EC's Frédson Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo José Carioca in the 28th minute of play. When Luiz Paulo Quirino fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barbacena EC's protests and gave Luiz Paulo Quirino a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd minute, Luiz Paulo Quirino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 35th minute Paulo José Carioca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frédson Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Diamentina FC booed when Barbacena EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolas de Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Ernesto Toledo sped through Barbacena EC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Frédson Fonseca. Michel Marques struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Oscar Vides didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barbacena EC. Frédson Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernesto Toledo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Barbacena EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Diamentina FC were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Paulo José Carioca stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Lino Pirani charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Lino Pirani the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Diamentina FC's Lino Pirani got a free kick in the 52nd minute. After having played for 53 minutes, Ricardo Rossi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barbacena EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ricardo Rossi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Rossi in the 55th minute of play forced Diamentina FC's goalkeeper Oscar Vides to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oscar Vides showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardo Rossi, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. The supporters of Barbacena EC booed when Diamentina FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nestor Trigo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Frédson Fonseca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo José Carioca in the 63rd minute of the match. Oscar Vides came out of the goal in the 65th minute to try and stop a shot by Barbacena EC's Ricardo Rossi. But to his dismay, Ricardo Rossi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Barbacena EC's Ricardo Rossi got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nicolas de Queiroz hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, Diamentina FC's Frédson Fonseca threw himself towards the right post 72 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Paulo José Carioca, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Ernesto Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 79 minutes into the game, Diamentina FC's Ernesto Toledo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Frédson Fonseca made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. If Ernesto Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frédson Fonseca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulo José Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Frédson Fonseca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ernesto Toledo in the 87th minute. When Ricardo Rossi came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Barbacena EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Rossi couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Paulo José Carioca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frédson Fonseca was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Vivaldo Veloso's late challenge caught a Diamentina FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vivaldo Veloso helped the player get up and apologised. After 96 played minutes Barbacena EC got a freekick which was hit by Vivaldo Veloso. The Diamentina FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
