When Mazinho de Godoi fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cafeína FC's protests and gave Mazinho de Godoi a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cafeína FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Mazinho de Godoi hit a great ball. In the 11th minute of the match Charles Arantes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Raí das Neves skillfully saved the ball. When Abelardo Velasco came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Mineiros Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abelardo Velasco couldn't finish the play. Abelardo Velasco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raí das Neves having to interfere. When Nicolas Moreira came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Mineiros Esporte Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolas Moreira couldn't finish the play. Raí das Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Gustavo Siqueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd match minute, Cafeína FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mazinho de Godoi to maneuver through the defense. Charles Arantes took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 24th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Raí das Neves. Cafeína FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 26th minute Laerte Sabóia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mazinho Arósio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mineiros Esporte Clube's Mazinho Arósio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Laerte Sabóia in the 27th minute of play. If Abelardo Velasco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 36 played minutes Cafeína FC got a freekick which was hit by Léo Saraiva. After having played for 41 minutes, Luiz Gustavo Siqueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mineiros Esporte Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Gustavo Siqueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Lúcio da Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Cafeína FC booed when Mineiros Esporte Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wilson Loureiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
