Cássio Maia hit a great ball. Dênis Prata showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrés Moro, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Cássio Maia might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dênis Prata. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cássio Maia ran back to his position shaking his head. vasco's Dênis Prata played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zula Siekierski in the 14th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, vasco's goal looked a bit too open when Dênis Cerezo came free, but Dênis Prata reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Dênis Cerezo sped through vasco's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dênis Prata. After some careless play in the vasco defense, Andrés Moro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dênis Prata. The vasco fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dênis Prata should have stopped the shot. In the 24th match minute, vasco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Artur Pontes to maneuver through the defense. Dênis Prata showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrés Moro, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Dênis Prata took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrés Moro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 28 played minutes Gressa FC got a freekick which was hit by Dadá de Medeiros. After 29 played minutes, vasco's Didi Lira shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zeca Pitta came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in vasco reached it. Artur Pontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zeca Pitta having to interfere. In the 34th minute, vasco's Rodrigo Ramalho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Rodrigo Ramalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zeca Pitta having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zula Siekierski in the 43rd minute of play forced vasco's goalkeeper Dênis Prata to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dênis Cerezo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Dênis Prata tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Joaquim Vinhas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Zeca Pitta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmyr de Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute, Cássio Maia made a precise shot to the right of Dênis Prata. vasco's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. The audience thought a goal was coming when Andrés Moro got free with Dênis Prata in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Artur Pontes hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. When Gressa FC's Zula Siekierski in the 69th minute got a chance for a shot 69th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye vasco's goalie prevented a goal. But to his dismay, Andrés Moro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. Cássio Maia charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cássio Maia the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. vasco made a substitution. Marcus Recife replaced Walmyr de Medeiros. The supporters of vasco booed when Gressa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cássio Maia didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Marcus Recife had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marcus Recife struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Zeca Pitta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for vasco. After 95 minutes, Marcus Recife mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the vasco and the Gressa FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Marcus Recife hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. The long shot by Andrés Moro in the 96th minute really tested Dênis Prata's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. The Gressa FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
