Durvalino Recife could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Ahmet Rıfat Erdem made a huge save. Tiago Gabriel Esteves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Walmir Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Abolição FC booed when Sambaitiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Válter Lara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ademar Carvalho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 29th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Walmir Novaes. Sambaitiba's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Tiago Gabriel Esteves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Abolição FC's Ahmet Rıfat Erdem played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Paulo Travassos in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to Sambaitiba getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Antônio Damião hit a great ball. 39 minutes into the game, Ulisses Vinhas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sambaitiba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Abolição FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Sambaitiba's Ulisses Vinhas got a free kick in the 39th minute. Ademar Carvalho was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 40th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Walmir Novaes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adelino Batista in the 42nd minute of the match. If Luís Paulo Travassos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 43 minutes of play, Sambaitiba's Durvalino Recife made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ahmet Rıfat Erdem was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ronaldão da Fonseca hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luís Paulo Travassos was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tiago Gabriel Esteves got free with Walmir Novaes in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Walmir Novaes made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Tiago Gabriel Esteves sent off a good shot on target. Adelino Batista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Walmir Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tiago Gabriel Esteves ran back to his position shaking his head. 85 minutes into the match, Sambaitiba's goal looked a bit too open when Tiago Gabriel Esteves came free, but Walmir Novaes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Abolição FC defense, Durvalino Recife kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ahmet Rıfat Erdem. The Abolição FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ahmet Rıfat Erdem should have stopped the shot. 90 minutes into the game, Adelino Batista recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Walmir Novaes. Adelino Batista showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-2. Luís Paulo Travassos struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Ahmet Rıfat Erdem didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sambaitiba. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
