Ediberto Ceresso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Orlando Vidal having to interfere. In the 18th minute, FLAMENGO's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Edu Carvalho fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Edu Carvalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FLAMENGO's Jefferson Valadares got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dráuzio de Andrade didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jefferson Valadares went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 37th minute, Benê Campidelis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dráuzio de Andrade was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Dráuzio de Andrade showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jefferson Valadares in the 39th minute of the match. The supporters of Barruada SS booed when FLAMENGO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anísio de Queiroz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edu Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Orlando Vidal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anísio de Queiroz's late challenge caught a Barruada SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anísio de Queiroz helped the player get up and apologised. After 43 played minutes FLAMENGO got a freekick which was hit by Anísio de Queiroz. The supporters of FLAMENGO booed when Barruada SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristiano Abraão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Juninho Cruz made a kick off. Orlando Vidal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juninho Cruz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Barruada SS's Dráuzio de Andrade proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Barruada SS from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the FLAMENGO defense, Edu Carvalho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Orlando Vidal. The FLAMENGO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Orlando Vidal should have stopped the shot. Orlando Vidal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edu Carvalho in the 64th minute of play. In the 71st minute, Barruada SS's Arthur Perez seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Arthur Perez the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Barruada SS protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Arthur Perez had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Barruada SS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 71st minute. Penalty! When Edu Carvalho came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Barruada SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edu Carvalho couldn't finish the play. Dráuzio de Andrade made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Jefferson Valadares sent off a good shot on target. When Ediberto Ceresso came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Barruada SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ediberto Ceresso couldn't finish the play. Juninho Cruz charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Juninho Cruz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Benê Campidelis in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dráuzio de Andrade prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 94 played minutes, FLAMENGO's Ramiro Barral shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dráuzio de Andrade came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FLAMENGO reached it. Ediberto Ceresso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 97 minutes into the match, Barruada SS's goalkeeper Dráuzio de Andrade had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jefferson Valadares. In the 99th minute, Ediberto Ceresso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
