Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Vasco da Gama's Zé Paulo Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cafu do Nascimento in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th minute, João Vítor Dante left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Laranja EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cafu do Nascimento in the 9th minute of play forced Vasco da Gama's goalkeeper Zé Paulo Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Vítor Dante scored 0-2 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zé Paulo Esteves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Zé Paulo Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Vítor Dante, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the match, Laranja EC's goalkeeper Romário Dantas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wiliam Souza. 19 minutes into the match, João Vítor Dante had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zé Paulo Esteves. Vasco da Gama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that João Vítor Dante was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 28th minute, Cido Maranhense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zé Paulo Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cafu do Nascimento in the 31st minute of the match. After having played for 33 minutes, João Vítor Dante managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Laranja EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Vítor Dante was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that João Vítor Dante's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zé Paulo Esteves was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Zé Paulo Esteves came out of the goal in the 40th minute to try and stop a shot by Laranja EC's Cafu do Nascimento. But to his dismay, Cafu do Nascimento quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Carlos Torres received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Romário Dantas came out and tried to block the shot, but Carlos Torres slotted it home off the left post making it 2-4 in the 44th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wiliam Souza was the one to do the kick off. Zé Paulo Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Vítor Dante in the 54th minute of the match. Armandinho Pernambucano succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-5 in the 56th playminute. The audience was convinced that João Vítor Dante's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Zé Paulo Esteves was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Armandinho Pernambucano took a quick shot and it went in 2-6 without a chance for Zé Paulo Esteves to make any attempt to save it. 65 minutes into the game, Armandinho Pernambucano recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Zé Paulo Esteves. Armandinho Pernambucano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-7. After 68 played minutes Laranja EC got a freekick which was hit by Armandinho Pernambucano. In the 70th minute Didi Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Paulo Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute, João Vítor Dante reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zé Paulo Esteves. The goal made the score 2-8. Zé Paulo Esteves was a little too slow when João Vítor Dante got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 78th minute. The score was now 2-9. In the 80th match minute, Vasco da Gama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cláudio Meira to maneuver through the defense. With his leg Zé Paulo Esteves managed to avoid a goal in the 82ndth minute, when Laranja EC's Cafu do Nascimento fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 83 minutes in the game, Didi Barros dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. After a rather tough play, Laranja EC's Armandinho Pernambucano got a free kick in the 85th minute. Zé Paulo Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Vítor Dante in the 87th minute of the match. Cafu do Nascimento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zé Paulo Esteves was a little too slow when João Vítor Dante got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 90th minute. The score was now 2-10. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Vítor Dante in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zé Paulo Esteves saved Vasco da Gama from getting behind. When the match was over Laranja EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Vasco da Gama throughout the match.
