Spectators: 7471 (Terracing: 5604, Seating: 1718, VIP seats: 149) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Wiliam Souza kicked off to start the match. 12 minutes into the match, Crobas EC's goal looked a bit too open when Wiliam Souza came free, but Valdomiro Bueno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Crobas EC's Sandrinho Silveira got a free kick in the 15th minute. Valdomiro Bueno came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Vasco da Gama's Cláudio Meira. But to his dismay, Cláudio Meira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 24th match minute, Crobas EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alan Lago to maneuver through the defense. After 26 minutes, Ernesto Ceresso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Crobas EC and the Vasco da Gama players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Vasco da Gama booed when Crobas EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernesto Ceresso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wiliam Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Valdomiro Bueno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Carlos Torres had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sandrinho Silveira charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sandrinho Silveira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 34 played minutes Crobas EC got a freekick which was hit by Sandrinho Silveira. Sandrinho Silveira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Valdomiro Bueno came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Vasco da Gama's Wiliam Souza. But to his dismay, Wiliam Souza quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the 46th minute, Ernesto Ceresso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Crobas EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Vasco da Gama were winning 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sandrinho Silveira to make the kick off. In the 58th minute Wiliam Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdomiro Bueno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was a well-played corner which Arthur Jacinto managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. If Wiliam Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Paulo Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edson Salles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wiliam Souza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Bueno having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Wiliam Souza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Valdomiro Bueno was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Wiliam Souza in the 79thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Valdomiro Bueno, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Wanderson Meireles fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Crobas EC's protests and gave Wanderson Meireles a yellow card for diving instead. In the 80th minute, one of Crobas EC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Crobas EC. When the match had been going on for 82 minutes, Vasco da Gama's Cláudio Meira got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Valdomiro Bueno. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Cláudio Meira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vasco da Gama's supporters rose to their feet, but Cláudio Meira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valdomiro Bueno breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Cido Maranhense managed to get in a good position for a shot. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Torres couldn't finish the play. 97 minutes into the match, Luiz Paulo Vargas notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Vasco da Gama's Zé Paulo Esteves. Zé Paulo Esteves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Vasco da Gama's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
