Melchor Orlando could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Giovani Salles made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erasmo Bertassi in the 19th minute of play forced inter de Milan's goalkeeper Aureo van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Percival de Sena in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Giovani Salles prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Itatiaiucu getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Kaká Moura hit a great ball. Angelo Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The throw-in from Aloísio Vieira in the 37th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by inter de Milan's Chico Saldanha. 37 minutes into the game, Percival de Sena was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. inter de Milan's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itatiaiucu the free kick. A collision led to inter de Milan getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Percival de Sena hit a great ball. If Christian Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Giovani Salles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Melchor Orlando in the 41st minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Ruy de Andrade ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Giovani Salles was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 47th minute, Ruy de Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erasmo Bertassi made a kick off. inter de Milan's Aureo van der Sar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save inter de Milan from getting a goal against them. In the 59thth minute of the game Melchor Orlando who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Itatiaiucu's Giovani Salles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 60 minutes into the match, Percival de Sena notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Itatiaiucu's Giovani Salles. Giovani Salles was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Giovani Salles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Melchor Orlando's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Chico Saldanha charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chico Saldanha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 75th minute, Chico Saldanha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Itatiaiucu booed when inter de Milan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregorio Iban didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute of the match Jano de Azevedo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aureo van der Sar showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Percival de Sena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Giovani Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 81 minutes, Melchor Orlando made it 4-0 with a short kick to the right side. Itatiaiucu's Giovani Salles tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When Percival de Sena was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 84 minutes had been played. Aureo van der Sar was a little too slow when Christian Carneiro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 89th minute. The score was now 4-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Yuri Travassos during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 94 minutes into the match, Melchor Orlando had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Giovani Salles. Itatiaiucu's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Melchor Orlando was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. inter de Milan had won after a very even match.
