Waldir Sena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romário Pires in the 4th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Romário Pires's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Waldir Sena was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. The Caneleiros da Várzea fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when Caneleiros da Várzea's Romário Pires looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Romário Pires received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Waldir Sena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 10th match minute, Friburguense AC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Célio Batista to maneuver through the defense. Waldir Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabrício da Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 19 minutes, Rubinho de Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Friburguense AC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rubinho de Carvalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 25th minute Romário Pires shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldir Sena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Caneleiros da Várzea's Adriano Pires pulled a muscle in his back after 27 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Romário Pires recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Waldir Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romário Pires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Romário Pires in the 35th minute of play forced Friburguense AC's goalkeeper Waldir Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Romário Pires recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The attack was good, but when Romário Pires in the 38th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. The audience was convinced that Romário Pires's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Waldir Sena was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nelson Capixaba in the 43rd minute of play forced Friburguense AC's goalkeeper Waldir Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Romário Pires made the kick off in the second half. Waldir Sena made an important save on a dangerous shot by Manoel Palmeira in the 53rd minute. After 54 played minutes Friburguense AC got a freekick which was hit by Matheus Matorin. In the 61st minute, Romário Pires made a precise shot to the right of Waldir Sena. Friburguense AC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Romário Pires could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Waldir Sena made a huge save. Caneleiros da Várzea's Romário Pires got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Manoel Palmeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Romário Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Sena having to interfere. Romário Pires could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Waldir Sena made a huge save. A collision led to Friburguense AC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Célio Batista hit a great ball. Fabrício da Rocha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldir Sena having to interfere. In the 84th match minute, Friburguense AC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Célio Batista to maneuver through the defense. 86 minutes into the match, Friburguense AC's Rubinho de Carvalho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Vítor de Alcântara narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 87th minute, Manoel Palmeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th minute, Romário Pires ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Waldir Sena was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. The Friburguense AC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Caneleiros da Várzea were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
