Dorival Velasco's late challenge caught a Red Skulls's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After having played for 31 minutes, Nando Donatello managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Red Skulls's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nando Donatello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Turiassu AD's Virgílio Bastos got control of the ball when Nando Donatello tried to sneak it across the goal line. Red Skulls's Erman Metiner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustavo Leite in the 40th minute of play. A collision led to Red Skulls getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Pere Beloki hit a great ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gustavo Leite made a kick off. Nando Donatello sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 57th minute, Tiago Barral hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Virgílio Bastos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Red Skulls. In the 86th minute, Nando Donatello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 89 minutes into the game, one of Turiassu AD:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 90 minutes into the game, Pere Beloki cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Virgílio Bastos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
