Basílio Cosme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albertinho Lima, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Remo Moraes's late challenge caught a Pirajiba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Remo Moraes helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Volta Redonda F. Clube getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Remo Moraes hit a great ball. If Luisinho Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juarês Magalhães got a throw-in 29 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Nelson de Queiroz. The supporters of Volta Redonda F. Clube booed when Pirajiba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Prado didn't get a good kick on the ball.
