When the match had gone on for 7 minutes, Nando Rosa took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Luizão Braga to make any attempt to save it. Luizão Braga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nando Rosa in the 10th minute. The supporters of Maragua EC booed when Brigido EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eriberto Esteves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luizão Braga made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Pedrinho Bueno sent off a good shot on target. After 17 minutes, Erik Favoretto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maragua EC and the Brigido EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 17th minute, Erik Favoretto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Luís Pitta in the 20th minute of play forced Brigido EC's goalkeeper Magno Pitta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes into the game, Osvaldo Mesquita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Magno Pitta was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Brigido EC's Eriberto Esteves got a free kick in the 30th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Brigido EC's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Luís Pitta came free, but Magno Pitta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luizão Braga made a fantastic save in the 37th minute, when Nando Rosa sent off a good shot on target. Luizão Braga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nando Rosa went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Brigido EC defense, Pedro Luís Pitta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Magno Pitta. The Brigido EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Magno Pitta should have stopped the shot. 48 minutes into the match, João Paulo Mazza notched a goal, 4-4, to the right of Brigido EC's Magno Pitta. Magno Pitta was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Maragua EC's Chiquinho de Lara was substituted for Pedro Luís Pitta. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Gilberto Souza hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Pedrinho Bueno fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizão Braga having to interfere. Luizão Braga came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Brigido EC's Pedrinho Bueno. But to his dismay, Pedrinho Bueno quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-4. 71 minutes into the match, Nando Rosa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luizão Braga. Luizão Braga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Luizão Braga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nando Rosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Magno Pitta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cássio de Senna in the 80th minute of play. 88 minutes into the game, Nando Rosa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-4. Luizão Braga was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 94th minute Cássio de Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Magno Pitta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 98th minute, Chiquinho de Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brigido EC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
