Seating: 1782, VIP seats: 154) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Mário Araújo started the match with the kick off. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Wágner Zonta put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of José Augusto Alcântara. In the 11th minute, Percy Bertassi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bahia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 16 minutes into the game, one of Guub United:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Mário Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guub United's supporters rose to their feet, but Mário Araújo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Augusto Alcântara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Wágner Zonta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Augusto Alcântara was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. If Percy Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Augusto Alcântara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mário Araújo's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. Querubin Galvan hit a great freekick 48 minutes into the match.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Percy Bertassi was the one to do the kick off. Percy Bertassi's late challenge caught a Guub United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Percy Bertassi helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Bahia's Percy Bertassi got a free kick in the 54th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Mário Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guub United's supporters rose to their feet, but Mário Araújo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 68th minute Waldemar Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Levente Majer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 70th match minute, Bahia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernani Correia to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th minute of the match Carlos Eduardo Abraão sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but José Augusto Alcântara skillfully saved the ball. Querubin Galvan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Levente Majer having to make a save. Bahia made a substitution. Vágner Pires replaced Percy Bertassi. After a defensive mix-up in Guub United's zone, Vágner Pires stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Levente Majer came out of the goal and Vágner Pires tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mário Araújo in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck José Augusto Alcântara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 90thth minute of the game Wágner Zonta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bahia's José Augusto Alcântara was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Levente Majer made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vágner Pires in the 92nd minute. 99 minutes into the match, Guub United's goal looked a bit too open when Waldemar Lara came free, but Levente Majer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Guub United players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
