Júnior Aparecido kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, TheGazette's goalkeeper Müjdat Semin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anestis Protopsaltis. 17 minutes into the match, TheGazette's goal looked a bit too open when Anestis Protopsaltis came free, but Müjdat Semin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Júnior Aparecido ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Michel Neuer was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Müjdat Semin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anestis Protopsaltis in the 27th minute of play. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 34 minutes into the match, RS Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Antal Földes came free, but Michel Neuer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michel Neuer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antal Földes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anestis Protopsaltis in the 37th minute of play forced TheGazette's goalkeeper Müjdat Semin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 41 minutes into the game, Júnior Aparecido was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. TheGazette's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave RS Futebol Clube the free kick. After a rather tough play, TheGazette's Júnior Aparecido got a free kick in the 41st minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anestis Protopsaltis in the 50th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Müjdat Semin saved TheGazette from getting behind. When Ragıp Buyruk came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the RS Futebol Clube fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ragıp Buyruk couldn't finish the play. Hamílton Chaves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Müjdat Semin having to interfere. In the 70th minute, Gerson Alcântara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 89 played minutes RS Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Maurinho Velasco. Anestis Protopsaltis might have been able to make a better finish in the 93rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Müjdat Semin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Anestis Protopsaltis ran back to his position shaking his head. Anestis Protopsaltis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Müjdat Semin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. In the 94th match minute, TheGazette was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betão Messias to maneuver through the defense.
