In the 25th minute, Mário Raimundo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Reginaldo Baianos short, quick shot in the 30thth minute got Wambasther Taffarel to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Reginaldo Baiano in the 30thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Wambasther Taffarel, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Wambasther Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lauro Gaspar in the 33rd minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, Phoenix FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sebastian Battaglia to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Internacional de Almagro's Belmiro Lima slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Wambasther Taffarel. That made the score 4-0 after 47 minutes of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Răzvan Ichimescu made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rubinho Abreu in the 57th minute of play forced Phoenix FC's goalkeeper Wambasther Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 57 minutes of play, Internacional de Almagro's Belmiro Lima made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wambasther Taffarel was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 60th minute, Rubinho Abreu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wambasther Taffarel was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. In the 67th minute Belmiro Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wambasther Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ian Moura's late challenge caught a Phoenix FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Wambasther Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lauro Gaspar, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. When the match clock showed 95 minutes, the score became 6-1 when Răzvan Ichimescu sped through Internacional de Almagro's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lucas Torres.
