The audience thought a goal was coming when Luizinho de Toledo got free with Daniel Lopes in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Lopes came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Antuérpia SC's Luizinho de Toledo. But to his dismay, Luizinho de Toledo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Kia Cerato charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kia Cerato the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Kia Cerato kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Aikivida's Aílton Félix got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Lopes didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 27th minute, which inside left pole to 3-1. 29 minutes into the match, Antuérpia SC's goal looked a bit too open when Adalberto Torres came free, but Doriva da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adalberto Torres in the 33rd minute of play forced Antuérpia SC's goalkeeper Doriva da Fonseca to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Luizinho de Toledo fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Antuérpia SC's protests and gave Luizinho de Toledo a yellow card for diving instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-2.

Antuérpia SC's Doriva da Fonseca proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Antuérpia SC from getting a goal against them. Doriva da Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Torres in the 59th minute of play. When Adalberto Torres came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Aikivida fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adalberto Torres couldn't finish the play. After having played for 65 minutes, Adalberto Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aikivida's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adalberto Torres was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 75 minutes into the match, Luiz Jacinto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Daniel Lopes. Aikivida's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luiz Jacinto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-2. Antuérpia SC made a substitution. With an all-out effort, Aikivida's Doriva da Fonseca threw himself towards the right post 94 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Adalberto Torres, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 94th minute, Adalberto Torres left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Aikivida fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-5. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Antuérpia SC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Aikivida had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
