Miguel Boni took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Lauaxeta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rogelio Isusko scored 0-1 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ciriaco Olivar, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ciriaco Olivar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jairo Valerio in the 14th minute of the match. Rogelio Isusko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Ciriaco Olivar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rogelio Isusko in the 20th minute of play forced GIMNASIA y TIRO de SALTA's goalkeeper Ciriaco Olivar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 23rd minute, Rogelio Isusko got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jairo Valerio in the 25th minute of play forced GIMNASIA y TIRO de SALTA's goalkeeper Ciriaco Olivar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ciriaco Olivar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rogelio Isusko in the 28th minute of play. Ciriaco Olivar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jairo Valerio's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. In the 31st minute, Guido Martxel fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After 34 minutes, Guido Martxel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the GIMNASIA y TIRO de SALTA and the INDEPENDIENTE players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of INDEPENDIENTE booed when GIMNASIA y TIRO de SALTA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guido Martxel didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 38 played minutes GIMNASIA y TIRO de SALTA got a freekick which was hit by Guido Martxel. Rogelio Isusko took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ciriaco Olivar. Ciriaco Olivar dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After the first half INDEPENDIENTE were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Lauaxeta made a kick off. Ciriaco Olivar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jairo Valerio in the 58th minute. In the 59th match minute, GIMNASIA y TIRO de SALTA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denis Ortzi to maneuver through the defense. In the 61st of the match, Rogelio Isusko tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Ciriaco Olivar got in the way and made a wonderful save. Jairo Valerio struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Ciriaco Olivar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for INDEPENDIENTE. 70 minutes into the match, GIMNASIA y TIRO de SALTA's goal looked a bit too open when Rogelio Isusko came free, but Ciriaco Olivar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jairo Valerio had several of the GIMNASIA y TIRO de SALTA's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 72 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-3 score and a disappointed Ciriaco Olivar as he didn't even see the shot coming. A collision led to INDEPENDIENTE getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Matias Rocendo hit a great ball. 77 minutes into the match, Casimiro Acuña notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of INDEPENDIENTE's Miguel Boni. Miguel Boni was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 82nd minute, Vicente Ellande fired a really elegant long shot, but Ciriaco Olivar threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. Daniel Lauaxeta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ciriaco Olivar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rogelio Isusko, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. 100 minutes into the match, INDEPENDIENTE's Rogelio Isusko sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ciriaco Olivar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. INDEPENDIENTE's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
