Venerando Aguilar's late challenge caught a Somisa FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Venerando Aguilar helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Banda Norte getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Venerando Aguilar hit a great ball. Leo Sendoa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francisco Duarte having to interfere. When Pastor Sauveur came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Somisa FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pastor Sauveur couldn't finish the play. In the 38th minute, Somisa FC's Faustino Maule ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Francisco Duarte. Francisco Duarte yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Faustino Maule to make the kick off.
