Gandofi's Lázaro Argoitz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Gandofi from getting a goal against them. After having played for 11 minutes, Gabriel Norino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newells Old Boys's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gabriel Norino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lázaro Argoitz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santos Videl, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. 21 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Sergio Orlo came free, but Evelio Quinteros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 22 minutes into the game, Luis Palos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newells Old Boys's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gandofi the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 22nd minute of the game. One of Newells Old Boys:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gandofi:s goal. Lázaro Argoitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santos Videl in the 28th minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Vicente Vellito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 33 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Sergio Orlo came free, but Evelio Quinteros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, Filomeno Bingen put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Evelio Quinteros. In the 39thth minute of the game Filomeno Bingen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newells Old Boys's Evelio Quinteros was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Newells Old Boys's zone, Sergio Orlo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evelio Quinteros came out of the goal and Sergio Orlo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Newells Old Boys's Evelio Quinteros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filomeno Bingen in the 43rd minute of play. In the 46th minute, Sergio Orlo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gandofi fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 56th match minute, Newells Old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hilario Birila to maneuver through the defense. Filomeno Bingen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Evelio Quinteros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Ariel Blasi got a free kick in the 62nd minute. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Filomeno Bingen took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Evelio Quinteros to make any attempt to save it. Sergio Orlo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Evelio Quinteros showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filomeno Bingen, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Sergio Orlo succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-6 in the 82nd playminute. In the 87th minute Filomeno Bingen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evelio Quinteros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 93 minutes of play, Gandofi's Sergio Orlo made it 0-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Evelio Quinteros was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the final whistle sounded Gandofi left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Newells Old Boys.
