An unexpectedly hard shot by Dante Lleir in the 23rd minute of play forced Juan Román Riquelme Teams's goalkeeper Godofredo Frechoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute Dante Lleir shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godofredo Frechoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Javier Tohias stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee ignored Juan Román Riquelme Teams's protests and gave Venancio Ixidor a yellow card for diving instead. Vedia's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
