One of Ampatilla FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Irala:s goal. Aldo Gaufred placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Irala were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after Ampatilla FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aldo Gaufred took the corner. In the 27th minute, Carlos Columbo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Carlos Columbo's late challenge caught a Irala's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlos Columbo helped the player get up and apologised. After 30 played minutes Ampatilla FC got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Columbo. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Columbo to make the kick off.
