The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After recieving a nice pass, Team Roughnecks's Teodosio Chano tried to score from far away in the 5th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. When Rene Loiola came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Team Roughnecks fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rene Loiola couldn't finish the play. In the 14th minute Rene Loiola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Saturnino Cebo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gustavo Lehior fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bartolo Lastur having to interfere. A collision led to Team Roughnecks getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Teodosio Acevedo hit a great ball. 21 minutes into the match, Herrera's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Lordi came free, but Saturnino Cebo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 26 minutes into the game, Diego Lordi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Saturnino Cebo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nicanor Asur charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nicanor Asur the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Herrera booed when Team Roughnecks was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicanor Asur didn't get a good kick on the ball. Diego Lordi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Diego Lordi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 51st minute, Hugo Hartz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 56 minutes, Diego Lordi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Team Roughnecks's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diego Lordi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Diego Lordi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saturnino Cebo having to interfere. Delmiro Ebardo struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Bartolo Lastur didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Herrera. Rene Loiola might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Saturnino Cebo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rene Loiola ran back to his position shaking his head. Team Roughnecks's Diego Lordi got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fermin Bixintxo kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. If Rene Loiola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
