Tomás Umbruso started the match with the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomás Umbruso in the 3rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elias Sayveon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Humberto Ponciano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Andres George tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 7th minute of the match, Virgilio Gorka tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Andres George saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a defensive mix-up in Defensores RAE's zone, Tomás Umbruso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elias Sayveon came out of the goal and Tomás Umbruso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Astor Xabat took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 10th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Elias Sayveon. Defensores RAE's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Tomás Umbruso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 13 played minutes Defensores RAE got a freekick which was hit by Roberto Ferrando. After 16 played minutes Rompe Arcos FC got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Illan. Omar Aimar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elias Sayveon having to interfere. Omar Aimar might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elias Sayveon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Omar Aimar ran back to his position shaking his head. Omar Aimar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Astor Xabat took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 32nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Elias Sayveon. Rompe Arcos FC's Tomás Umbruso got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Omar Aimar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elias Sayveon having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Virgilio Gorka was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Defensores RAE booed when Rompe Arcos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amador Hanot didn't get a good kick on the ball. Humberto Ponciano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Andres George read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. The corner led Defensores RAE's Domingo Xacintu to fire away a dangerous shot which Andres George despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. If Virgilio Gorka had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Virgilio Gorka came up free with the goalie in the 59th minute, the Defensores RAE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Virgilio Gorka couldn't finish the play. When the match had been going on for 69 minutes, Rompe Arcos FC's Severiano Madeo got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Elias Sayveon. Elias Sayveon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Umbruso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 88 minutes into the match, Rompe Arcos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Virgilio Gorka came free, but Andres George reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 90 minutes, Tomás Umbruso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rompe Arcos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomás Umbruso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Omar Aimar's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Elias Sayveon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. A collision led to Defensores RAE getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Roberto Ferrando hit a great ball.
