Cornelio Abeitia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 19 minutes into the match, Marciano Berbiz notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Tilcara AFC's Cornelio Abeitia. Cornelio Abeitia was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Hernan Lucado struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Cornelio Abeitia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merlina FC. In the 44th minute, Bartolo Mundo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 45 played minutes, Tilcara AFC's Eriberto Chus shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Diego Marinho came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Tilcara AFC reached it.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jesus Valente was the one to do the kick off. Luis Millano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Diego Marinho made a huge save. In the 62nd minute, Marciano Berbiz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cornelio Abeitia was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. A collision led to Tilcara AFC getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Melchor Gumaro hit a great ball. Diego Marinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Melchor Gumaro in the 73rd minute. In the 77th minute Jesus Valente shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diego Marinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 77 minutes into the game, Horacio Tabor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Merlina FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tilcara AFC the free kick. The supporters of Tilcara AFC booed when Merlina FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horacio Tabor didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cornelio Abeitia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hernan Lucado, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. If Marciano Berbiz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Siro Joanes kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Melchor Gumaro got free with Diego Marinho in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Many of Tilcara AFC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Tilcara AFC may have spent more time on the ball, but Merlina FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
