Roque Gauargi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gervasio Nahia in the 5th minute of play. Orlando Osmundo struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Roque Gauargi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Phoenix. Roque Gauargi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alejo Colas, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. Gervasio Nahia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roque Gauargi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Vinicio Gudesteo kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. A collision led to Las Prefiero Morochas getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Aurelio Bazkoare hit a great ball. Orlando Osmundo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 31 minutes into the match, Phoenix's goal looked a bit too open when Ruben Guillem came free, but Marcelo Oso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Las Prefiero Morochas's zone, Alejo Colas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roque Gauargi came out of the goal and Alejo Colas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Orlando Osmundo to make the kick off. Gervasio Nahia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gervasio Nahia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roque Gauargi having to interfere. Phoenix's Orlando Osmundo got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Alejo Colas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roque Gauargi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 58th minute of play. When Salvador Muno fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Las Prefiero Morochas's protests and gave Salvador Muno a yellow card for diving instead. Salvador Muno kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Roque Gauargi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Orlando Osmundo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Las Prefiero Morochas's goalkeeper Roque Gauargi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alejo Colas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roque Gauargi having to interfere. Las Prefiero Morochas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Phoenix the free kick. After 79 played minutes Las Prefiero Morochas got a freekick which was hit by Saul Otsoa. Alejo Colas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Roque Gauargi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alejo Colas received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Roque Gauargi came out and tried to block the shot, but Alejo Colas slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 83rd minute. When Alejo Colas came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Phoenix fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alejo Colas couldn't finish the play. Roque Gauargi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Orlando Osmundo in the 96th minute. When the match was over Phoenix could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Las Prefiero Morochas throughout the match.
