The audience thought a goal was coming when Astor Marko got free with Abel Gaufred in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The audience was convinced that Astor Marko's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Abel Gaufred was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. The supporters of Piquete booed when Miraflores was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vicente Inge didn't get a good kick on the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Piquete's Marcelo Dolfo broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 14th minute, Eugenio Timo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joaquin Jago's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Abel Gaufred read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. In the 28th minute Joaquin Jago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Gaufred saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joaquin Jago in the 38th minute of play forced Piquete's goalkeeper Abel Gaufred to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Valentin Hitz came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Miraflores fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valentin Hitz couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joaquin Jago to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Joaquin Jago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Gaufred saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Epifanio Bernebe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joaquin Jago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joaquin Jago in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Abel Gaufred prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Abel Gaufred stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Joaquin Jago's shot from short distance in the 72nd minute. After 73 played minutes Piquete got a freekick which was hit by Eugenio Timo. Leon Nardo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Anastasio Ritchie, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. Astor Marko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Piquete's Abel Gaufred played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joaquin Jago in the 80th minute of play. Eduardo Lucian's late challenge caught a Miraflores's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eduardo Lucian helped the player get up and apologised. In the 85th minute Joaquin Jago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abel Gaufred saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 87 minutes, Epifanio Bernebe managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piquete's supporters crossed their fingers, but Epifanio Bernebe was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joaquin Jago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joaquin Jago in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Abel Gaufred saved Piquete from getting behind. For all the effort they put into the match, the Piquete players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Miraflores.
